The Electrum Pro II Pickleball Paddle Review - Does Electrum fail our tests again?
Electrum finally had these back in stock, so I picked one up. It was love at first sight. Would it last? Unfortunately, I wont be recommending it. If you watch the video, youll understand why. Having played with the original Pro I, I was expecting something a little more different from Electrum. I thought that they would dial back the roughness on this version, since my findings on the original were way over spec. Playing with the Pro II was a treat. It was quick at the kitchen, put loads of grip on the ball which helped put a lot of spin on shots. Its 11mm thickness also packed a punch. My only negative regarding play was around the lack of touch which is indicative of really any paddle at this thin of core. It was expected, and as such, doesnt play to my style preference. However, I did enjoy playing with it and it could easily find its way into my bag regularly if it wasnt for what I found out upon testing it. By the way, testing was done prior to playing with it. It was a brand new paddle during my testing. As a reminder, the legal limits of roughness on a paddle are .30 or less Rz and .40 or less Rt. I do all of this on my own dime and time.
