Step 4: Test Yourself Regularly

Pickleball Trivia is a great way to test your rules knowledge. Just check the "Rules questions only" box before you play.

Step 5: Find a Nearby Referee Trainer

It's never too early to get in touch with a USA Pickleball Certified Referee Trainer. Click here to find one near you. They'll help you through the process of refining your skills, teaching you how to properly referee a match, and will help you get involved in refereeing at actual tournaments!

Step 6: Get Your Gear

As a pickleball referee, there are certain things you'll need. A clip board, pencils, and a server clip are the a must, even just to start practicing. When you're ready to start reffing at tournaments, you'll also want to look the part.

The standard pickleball referee outfit is black shoes, black socks, black shorts, pants, or skirt, white colared shirt, and white hat. Here's a good starter list for the gear you'll need to become a referee:
